Sequencing of the Mycobacterium phage JayJay genome

JayJay is mycobacteriophage (bacterial virus) that infects Mycobacterium smegmatis mc2155. Following infection, it propagates within the host to eventually cause bursting of the bacteria. Genomic DNA from JayJay was extracted and the whole genome sequenced using the Illumina platform. Sequence analysis allowed ordering into a mycobacteriophage phylogenetic cluster.
