资源简介:
NCBRF-2: Parent Scale. Psychometric data for FBA analyses and other psychometric properties.Children and youth with intellectual disability or related developmental disabilities (ID/DD) have a higher presence of co-occurring psychiatric disorders and problem behaviors than neurotypical children and youth. Measuring these comorbid conditions is extremely important to ensuring proper identification, referral to treatment, and assessment of treatment outcomes. The Nisonger Child Behavior Rating Form (NCBRF) is a rating scale that was standardized for use with this population. However, the NCBRF was first developed more than 25 years ago. The revision of the NCBRF focused on refining this behavior rating scale to more robustly screen for the most common forms of psychiatric disorders and problem behaviors present in children and youth with ID/DD. The NCBRF-2: Parent Scale consists of: (a) 10 items across the two subscales of the Positive Social domain; and (b) 63 items across the five subscales of the Psychiatric Disorders and Behaviors of Concern domain. This paper presents the psychometric properties of the NCBRF-2: Parent Scale, including its internal consistency, construct validity, and concurrent validity. We discuss the scale’s strong psychometric properties and its clinical and research utility. The primary measurement instrument on which we collected data was the NCBRF-2: Parent Scale. The NCBRF-2: Parent Scale assesses for the most prevalent forms of psychiatric disorders and behaviors of concern reported in children and adolescents with ID/DD (Shively & Tassé, 2022). The NCBRF-2 Parent Scale consists of two broad domains: (a) positive social and (b) psychiatric disorders and behaviors of concern (PDBC). The NCBRF-2 consists of two forms, a parent scale and a teacher scale. This study focuses on the NCBRF-2: Parent Scale. The NCBRF-2: Parent Scale contains a total of 73 items: (a) 10 items across the two subscales of the Positive Social domain; and (b) 63 items across the five subscales of the PDBC domain. Parents provide their rating based on the child/adolescent’s functioning over the prior month. The rating scale for Positive Social items is based on a 4-point rating scale from 0 (not true) to 3 (completely/always true). However, the rating scale for the PDBC items is based on a 4-point rating scale from 0 (did not occur or was not a problem) to 3 (occurred a lot or was a severe problem). We collected NCBF-2: Parent Scale data on a sample of 401 children and adolescents recruited from a large children’s hospital in the Midwest of the United States over a 16-month period. Parents and guardians of children who were seen for an interdisciplinary diagnostic assessment or a comprehensive psychological evaluation were asked to complete the NCBRF-2. Parents and guardians were considered for this study if their child was between the ages of 3 and 18 years (inclusive), and if they were fluent and literate in English. Parents and guardians were not excluded solely if English was not their first language. Data also include caregiver completed on one of the following behavior rating forms: Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL; Achenbach & Rescorla, 2000, 2001), Conners Rating Scale, 3rd Edition (Conners-3; Conners, 2008), Conners-Early Childhood (Conners-EC; Conners & Goldstein, 2009), Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, 3rd Edition (ABAS-3; Harrison & Oakland, 2015), or Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, 2nd Edition (Vineland-3; Sparrow et al, 2005).
