Gilles Deleuze, From A to Z, Part-1, 15 December 1988

<p><em>The Deleuze Seminars</em> is a collection of audio recordings, transcriptions, and English translations of, and supplemental materials from, the lectures French philosopher Gilles Deleuze gave during his career at the University of Paris 8.</p>

<p>In this first segment of <em>L’Abécédaire, </em>Deleuze starts with “A as in Animal” (instead of A as in “amitié”, or friendship, which might have been preferable), then after a brief, somewhat personal reflection on “B as in <em>Boire </em>[Drinking]”, he reflects at length on “C as in Culture” (in various senses of the term). Then he pursues the all-important “D as in Desire,” followed by an exploration of his education and other aspects of childhood in “E as in <em>Enfance</em> [Childhood]”, and finally, “F as in <em>Fidélit</em>é [Loyalty]” , the consideration of friendship.</p>

<p>The dataset contains three files, the French transcription and English translation of Part I of the interview, and the recording’s opening introduction and summary of the corresponding part.</p>

<p>Dans ce premier segment de "L’Abécédaire de Gilles Deleuze", Deleuze commence par « A comme Animal » (au lieu de A comme « amitié », ce qui aurait été préférable), puis après une brève réflexion quelque peu personnelle sur « B comme Boire », il réfléchit longuement sur « C comme Culture » (selon divers sens du terme).
