Allocryptopine alleviates IBD through modulating gut microbiota

Regarding gut microbiota, principal component analysis (PCA) on the OUT level showed that Allocryptopine (ALL) and Mesalamine (MES) played an overlapping role in alleviating colitis. Furthermore, ALL and MES increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidota value at the phylum level and upregulated the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacillus, Akkermansia, and Bifidobacterium at the genus level. Our study suggests that ALL regulates gut microbiota to reduce colitis response. So ALL could be a potential alkaloid therapy for IBD.
