Digital Archive from Construction Integrated Recording at Field Farm Cottages, Aston le Walls Embankment, Chipping Warden Green Tunnel, Northamptonshire, January-February 2022 (HS2 Phase One)

This collection comprises images, site records, spreadsheets, and vector data from construction integrated recording (CIR) at Field Farm Cottages, Aston le Walls Embankment, Chipping Warden Green Tunnel, Northamptonshire. This work was undertaken by Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd in January and February 2022 in advance of the proposed Phase One of High Speed Two (HS2). The CIR uncovered several isolated pits, one of which contained later Prehistoric pottery. The remains of a modern building foundation related to World War 2 activity at the nearby Chipping Warden Airfield were also uncovered. Agricultural furrows were present in the south of the site, beneath which were heavily truncated fragments of archaeological features that appear to have continued from the adjacent Romano-British site excavated at Field Farm.
