This report presents findings based on a qualitative study forming part of the evaluation of the provision of free condoms and household water treatment through Care and Support programs for PLHA in Tanzania. The program is delivered through partnership with other organizations. The overall objects of the evaluation was to assess the implementation process and behavior change that takes place in response to health products provided by partner organizations through care and support programs for PLHA in program areas. This evaluation was sponsored by PSI/Tanzania and conducted by Ipsos Synovate Tanzania, May 2013. It draws on focus group discussions with program beneficiaries (10 FGDs), in-depth interviews with PSI employees (4), partner organizations( 8) and observations (visits to 6 outlets stocking water guard). Findings pertain to knowledge, usage behavior, perceptions around the distributed products, that is, free condoms and water treatment. Barriers to their use were identified. Information on supply and duration of supply was also gathered.
