NRS-15553 | General Staff Regulations, Railways and Tramways

This series consists of three copies of the general staff regulations for employees of the railways and tramways. Regulations cover appointment and promotion, suspension, dismissal, and right of appeal, and terms and conditions of employment, including staff classification, wages and salaries, allowances and overtime, holiday leave, absences from duty, accident pay allowances, and issue of free travel passes.The volume NRS15553/1/1 1, includes copies of Circulars, and extensive handwritten annotations with references to Commissioners' Correspondence 1887-95, providing an indication of the process involved in the formulation, and revision, of the published Regulations.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records' series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R82 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管历史
1955年至2000年，新南威尔士州铁路管理局（State Rail Authority of New South Wales）维护有一套‘内部档案库’，收纳该局、其前身机构及政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案记录，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。当决定关停‘州铁路档案库’时，符合州档案留存要求的馆藏部分被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局（State Records Authority of NSW）。此类档案系列被纳入州档案管理的档案系列管控体系，并重新赋予编号。
本系列原属州铁路档案馆藏。在原州铁路档案库中，它曾被归类为R82系列，此前可能已被该档案库的研究人员在研究笔记、出版物或未刊作品中以此编号进行引用。
