National EU reference laboratory for air pollutants
According to the Measurement Concept Ordinance, a calibration workshop for operators of the Austrian air quality networks takes place annually at the Federal Environment Agency. This provides the possibility to compare and calibrate the respective standards for air pollutants with those of the Federal Environment Agency as a national EU reference laboratory, thus ensuring their traceability. For ozone, the deviations between the standard of the Federal Environment Agency and those of the participating measurement network operators were in most cases less than one percent. For sulphur dioxide differences of up to 5 % were observed, and for nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide up to 1.6 %. During the workshop, the flow of measuring equipment was also calibrated. In addition, foil sets for radiometric fine dust meters were compared with a reference film set of the Federal Environment Agency.
