Environmental DNA metabarcoding of fish communities in the Yarlung Tsangpo River

The present study performed fish diversity monitoring in the Yarlung Tsangpo River by combining DNA barcoding and eDNA metabarcoding. The results indicate that DNA barcodes and barcoding analysis provide essential information for facilitating the development of eDNA metabarcoding with species-level resolution. Compared with capture-based methods, eDNA metabarcoding was more effective in detecting fish species, including preciously and newly recorded species, and cryptic species.
