Science, Technology and Society. Interests and perceptions of public regarding scientific research and technological applications

The key objective of the project was that of gathering empirical information, through a social survey, in order to map out public interests and perceptions regarding science and its applications, while also exploring their impact on science public policies. The project was so designed as to make it fully comparable with the Standard Eurobarometer from the European Union Member States, while also providing r oom for the exploration of specific issues related to the Romanian public attitudes towards various types of knowledge, social practices and beliefs. The project survey was undertaken in July-September 2009 on a randomly selected multistage stratified sample, statistically representative for the Romanian population over the 18 years of age. The project was financed by the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research (ANCS) within the framework of the programme PN Capacities 2008 under the Contract No. 203 din 10.09.2008.
