EXPRESSION OF LINGUISTOCULTURAL AND ARTISTIC FEATURES IN TRANSLATING ABDULLA QAHHOR'S STORY "THE PATIENT" INTO ENGLISH

This article analyzes the linguistic, cultural and artistic problems encountered in the process of translating Abdulla Qahhor’s story “The Patient” into English. Accordingly, the extent to which the national-cultural units, phraseological expressions, proverbs, figurative expressions and the author's style are preserved in the translation is highlighted on the basis of a comparative analysis, and the basic principles of literary translation, issues of equivalence, strategies for translating linguistic and cultural units and the problems facing the translator are considered. The Uzbek and English texts of the story are compared and the translation methods used to preserve the artistic and aesthetic effect are evaluated. As a result, we can see that preserving the national spirit and author's style is one of the important factors in the process of translating Uzbek fiction into English.
