Byzantine-early Islamic lamps with snout handle and handle knob

Soot traces on the wick hole, origin: Tell Halaf. The elongated point-oval lamp has a double conical body. The base is sharply defined and clearly curved upwards to form a small ring. The filling hole is framed by a bulging rim and three shallow grooves. A high ridge borders the spout channel and encloses the wick hole. The knob of the handle is clearly worn. The decoration on the shoulder of the lamp, which is already very worn, consists of a row of squiggles, and there is a palm leaf in relief in the spout channel.(No. 162c; Fless 1997: 126)
