Model data for "Simulation of the climatic conditions required for the existence of ice sheet on the Tibetan Plateau"

This dataset originates from the article "Simulation of the climatic conditions required for the existence of ice sheet on the Tibetan Plateau," with the aim of providing detailed data related to the study. The dataset includes the following key data files:

    1. Climatological Variable Data: Includes annual average climatological variable outputs from two sensitivity tests (LGMistp0% and LGMistp100%) and one control test (Pre-Industrial experiment). These data provide insights into the climatic conditions of the Tibetan Plateau during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) period, simulated by the CAM5 model under different land surface glacier coverage boundary conditions. The included data files are data1a_LGMistp0%.cam.h0.annualy.nc, data1b_PIcontrol.cam.h0.annualy.nc, and data1c_LGMistp100%.cam.h0.annualy.nc.

    2. Ice Sheet Model Simulation Data: Utilizing the results of the LGMistp100% test as input, the ice sheet model PISM was driven to obtain ice sheet distribution data, including ice sheet thickness (thk, unit: meters) and modern topographic elevation (topg, unit: meters). The included data file is data2_topg_icsheet-thk_Simulated-by-PISM-using-climate-conditions-LGMistp100%-by-CAM5.nc.

    3. Tibetan Plateau Glacier Development Hydrothermal Configuration: Based on multiple PISM model simulation results, the identified Tibetan Plateau glacier distribution data includes the most suitable temperature conditions for glacier development (unit: degrees Celsius ℃) and precipitation changes (percentage change, unit: %). The included data file is data3_Hydrothermal_Configuration_dTS_dPR_for_TPG.nc.

Statistical Series: The dataset includes the following four statistical series: (a) A statistical table of the plateau glacier development area derived from driving the PISM model with CAM5 experiments (ranging from LGMistp0% to LGMistp100%, encompassing 11 trials); (b) A statistical table of the Tibetan Plateau glacier development area under various temperature threshold conditions; (c) A statistical table of the increment in the Tibetan Plateau glacier development area under different temperature threshold conditions; (d) A regional average statistical table of the percentage change in precipitation required for the development of Tibetan Plateau glaciers under various temperature threshold conditions.
