Effects of gut microbiota and its metabolites on susceptibility to obesity

It is well known that different populations and animals differ in their susceptibility to obesity, as well as experimental animals with the same rearing conditions. Differences in gut microbiota and their metabolites may be the main reason for this difference in obesity susceptibility. However, the specific mechanism by which gut microbiota affects the susceptibility to obesity remains unclear. In this study, obesity-prone (OP) and obesity-resistant (OR) mouse models were induced by high-fat diet. Cecal contents were examined using 16S rDNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics. Correlation analysis and MIMOSA2 analysis were used to explore the association between gut microbiota and intestinal metabolites.
