As part of the GIS support activities at the Wildbach- und Avalinenverbauung Sektion Tirol (Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management), a new approach with geographical location designations (e.g. district names) was developed, which makes it possible to automatically recognize and assign the projection of geodata. The effort for GIS users without knowledge of coordinate systems was enormous in the event of ambiguities before this solution. In the meantime, no additional support effort is required. The basic principle of the solution is that a geographical name is independent of coordinates or projection. If geometries of a place are combined with the geographical name in different projections, a clear assignment of the unclear spatial data set is almost always possible.作为奥地利农业、林业、环境与水利部下属蒂罗尔州野溪与雪崩防护科（Wildbach- und Avalinenverbauung Sektion Tirol）地理信息系统（Geographic Information System，GIS）支持工作的组成部分，研发团队开发了一种采用地理位置标识（如行政区名称）的全新方案，可自动识别并匹配地理数据的投影坐标系。在该方案推出前，缺乏坐标系相关知识的GIS用户在遭遇数据歧义时，需投入极大的工作量。如今，此类额外辅助工作已无需开展。该方案的核心原理为：地理名称与坐标系或投影相互独立。当某一地点的几何图形结合不同投影下的地理名称时，几乎总能实现模糊空间数据集的明确匹配。
