Bacteria of the genus Megasphaera belong to an important group of spoilage bacteria that cause beer spoilage by producing off flavors, aroma, and turbidity. Megasphaera cerevisiae is a low-alcohol beer spoiling coccus mainly found in non-pasteurized beer. In this study, we report the draft genome of M. cerevisiae Type strain 20462 obtained from DSMZ, Germany.
