THE CONCEPT OF GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE IN LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND ITS ENVIRONMENTAL EFFICIENCY

This article scientifically analyzes the ecological effectiveness of the green infrastructure concept in landscape design, its role in the sustainable development of urban ecosystems, and its potential for adaptation to climate change. The study examined the functional capabilities of the main elements of green infrastructure - urban parks, green corridors, groves, green roofs, water-based landscape solutions, and ecological corridors. Based on international scientific literature, data from FAO, UNEP, European Environment Agency, World Bank, and other official organizations, the role of green infrastructure in regulating microclimate, improving air quality, managing water resources, preserving biodiversity, and improving the quality of life of urban residents was assessed. The results of the study showed that green infrastructure is not only an aesthetic component of modern landscape design, but also a complex system that provides ecological services. Increased tree and plant cover reduces the urban heat island effect, expands storm-water management capabilities, and helps restore ecological balance. At the same time, it was determined that in developing green infrastructure in regions with a dry climate such as Uzbekistan, special attention should be paid to water-saving technologies, the use of local plant species, and the principles of ecological planning. The article analyzes international experience and the conditions of Uzbekistan and develops practical recommendations for the development of green infrastructure. The results of the study serve as a scientific and practical basis for the formation of sustainable urban planning and ecological landscape design.
