Escherichia ruysiae strain:ERS16 Genome sequencing

Escherichia ruysiae isolates were recovered from women with uncomplicated urinary tract infection. Using comparative genomics and in vitro infection models, we characterise their virulence and antimicrobial resistance profiles relative to uropathogenic E. coli and generate a high-quality reference genome for a uropathogenic E. ruysiae strain. These data clarify the pathogenic potential of E. ruysiae in humans and its links between environmental reservoirs and human infection.
