In 2022, the global production of plastics reached 400 million tons. Microplastic contamination has been detected across various countries, including Australia, United States, and China. Natural processes degrade the residual mulch film in the soil into microplastics. Nanoplastics (NPs) are characterized capable of penetrating cell membranes and barriers, threatening the health of humans and organisms. However, whether NPs can be absorbed by fruit trees root and the impacts of NPs accumulation on fruit trees root growth are unknown. In this study, interactions between NPs and woody fruit trees were examined for the first time using different varieties of peach.
