The bases for the adaptation of bacteria colonizing the skin of amphibians are poorly understood. We used the odor-producer Pseudomonas sp. MPFS and the tree frog Boana prasina as a model to explore signaling and bacterial resistance mechanisms to host antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Pseudomonas MPFS has one of the largest genomes within the genus (7.1 Mbp). Its phylogenomic position is within the P. piscis Subgroup, a new clade from the P. fluorescens Group, together with other representatives isolated from fishes and plants.
