Map of site yield for a fictional wind turbine (WEA) with rotor diameter of 148 m and rated power of 5 MW at 180 m height above ground. The power curve of WEA has only a certain validity range of relevant wind parameters, such as turbulence intensity, inclined flow and wind shear. In reality, however, these validity ranges are exceeded at many locations. For example, increased turbulence occurs especially in forest sites or too dense placement of WEA. Therefore, a flat-rate deduction of approx. 6 % is recommended when using the site yield.
