Voting behaviour in the referendum on the European Constitution in Spain.<br>Topics: participation in the referendum on the treaty of the establishment of a European Constitution; reasons for not voting; voting decision; time of voting decision; reasons for voting in favour or against the European Constitution; attitude towards the following statements: necessary information available before the referendum, good image of EU institutions, adoption of the constitution increases Spain’s influence within the EU, YES victory in Spain will lead to YES votes in other countries, weak turnout in Spain will influence turnout in other countries, adoption of the constitution strengthens democracy, European Constitution is essential to pursue European construction, Spain’s membership in the EU is a good thing, regret with regard to low turnout; assessment of the starting time of the debates on the European Constitution in Luxembourg as appropriate; knowledge test on the content of the European Constitution: creation of the position of a Foreign Affairs Minister of the EU, at least one million citizens can request the adoption of a European law, direct election of the President of the European Council by European citizens, creation of a direct European tax, disappearance of national citizenship, possibility for member states to leave the EU; usefulness of selected sources of information: advertisements and leaflets put out by Ministry of Internal Affairs, information provided by Spanish parties and organisations campaigning for a YES vote, information provided by Spanish parties and organisations campaigning for a NO vote, internet, information provided by offices of European institutions, newspapers, TV, radio, radio and TV campaign launched by the government, conference in Barcelona with participation of national and international political leaders, full text of the constitution; party affiliation; voting decision in the last European Parliament elections.
Demography: sex; age; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; region; type of community.
Additionally coded was: country; respondent ID; language of the interview; duration of the interview; weighting factor.
