Ecosystem Services Value Dataset of 341 cities in China (2000-2020)

Ecosystem services (ES) reflect the direct and indirect benefits people obtain from natural ecosystems, and they have a fundamental role in supporting and sustaining human survival and wellbeing. However, there are few long-term assessments of the ES value (ESV) at the national level. Therefore, based on the static ES equivalence factor table from Xie et al (2017), we selected five variables of net primary productivity, precipitation, biological migration resistance, soil erosion, and road density to adjust the ES coefficients of 4 primary categories (including supply service, regulation service, supporting service, and cultural service) and 11 secondary categories. Based on constant 2000 prices, we calculated the total ecosystem services value (ESSV) and per capita ecosystem services value (ESSP) in 341 prefectural-level cities from 2000 to 2020. The unit is 10,000 yuan.The dataset is stored in .shp and .xls formats, and the size is 30.4 MB. This database could support ecological functional zone planning, natural assets accounting, and ecological compensation policies. It could also be used for other studies.
