From Proxies to Parameters: Measuring the Behavioural Conditions for Cooperative Institutional Performance across 91 Economies — Replication Data and Code

Description This repository accompanies the manuscript "From Proxies to Parameters: Measuring the Behavioural Conditions for Cooperative Institutional Performance across 91 Economies", submitted to Economic Systems. The paper proposes a shift from structural proxies to behavioural parameters in institutional analysis, operationalising three conditions for cooperative institutional success: Trust, Consensus, and Dual Benefit. Health financing (out-of-pocket expenditure) serves as the proof-of-concept domain because it provides standardised cross-national outcome data; the behavioural parameters are theorised to govern cooperative institutional performance across domains. The repository contains: (1) raw source data from the World Values Survey, Afrobarometer, Asian Barometer, Latinobarómetro, World Bank WGI, WHO GHED, and other public sources, enabling replicators to trace every variable to its origin; (2) the constructed analysis-ready dataset of 91 countries with 36 variables (2021 reference year); (3) complete R replication code reproducing all tables, figures, and robustness checks; and (4) full documentation including a codebook and data construction notes.
