A total of 23 adult dung beetles (Subfamily: Scarabaeinae) from six genera and seven species were collected in the North-West and Northern-Cape provinces, South Africa. The guts were subsequently extracted and DNA was extracted. The Illumina NovoSeq platform was used to perform 16s rRNA community sequencing (FWD: GTGCCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA and REV: CCGTCAATTCCTTTGAGTTT ).
