Adopt-A-Drain

The City of Durham Adopt-a-Drain program relies on local volunteers. By adopting storm drains and regularly clearing them of leaves and debris, Durham residents can help improve water quality and decrease localized flooding. Extra leaves and debris in storm drains can clog the drainage system, making it hard for stormwater to flow. These leaves can also contribute to nutrient pollution, taking up extra oxygen in our waterways and making it harder for bugs and fish to thrive.
