Genotypes and Kissing Spines grades of 155 stock-type (American Quarter Horse, American Paint Horse and Appaloosa) and Warmblood (American Warmblood, Dutch Warmblood, Hanoverian, Belgian Warmblood, Irish Sport Horse, Westphalian, Zangersheide, etc.) horses presented at collaborating veterinary clinics and hospitals, phenotyped using a strict clinical and radiographical scheme to grade each horse from 0 for unaffected controls to 4 for severe KS. Genotypic data resulting from the Illumina Equine SNP70 array (Illumina, Inc.), filtered by minor allele frequency (MAF) higher than 5% and a per locus genotyping rate higher than 95%, resulting in 7,817 and 11,518 respective markers removed, leaving a total of 61,229 markers at a genotyping rate of 0.991564 for the 155 horses.
