资源简介:
This dataset consists of 1-minute averaged measurements of underway navigation, meteorology, and sea-surface hydrography during science cruise JR15004 between 19th January and 21st February 2016 onboard RRS James Clark Ross. These data were collected around the South Orkney Islands in the Southern Ocean. Navigation data were collected using a Seatex Seapath 200 System and Kongsberg EA600 single beam echo sounder. Continuous measurements of meteorological and sea-surface hydrographic properties were logged using the British Antarctic Survey-developed Oceanlogger application. Sea-surface hydrography measurements were made from the ship’s uncontaminated sea water supply (UCSW) located approximately 6.5 metres below sea level under nominal load conditions. Underway systems were run through the duration of the cruise. All the underway navigation, meteorology, and sea-surface hydrography data were reformatted into BODC internal format and screened for data quality. These data were collected to support the wider cruise objectives: to examine the factors that determine the distribution of krill and other pelagic organisms across a range of time and space scales and comprised coordinated physical and biological studies from the ship. The conductivity, temperature, depth (CTD) downcast profile data from the cruise are available separately, as are biological datasets including biological multi-frequency acoustics and krill length frequency. Full details of the cruise are given in the JR15004 cruise report, available from the British Oceanographic Data Centre.
