Reproduction files for \"Deliberative Qualities of Generic News Frames\"

This repository contains the information needed to reproduce all analyses reported in the article \"Deliberative Qualities of Generic News Frames: Assessing the Democratic Value of Strategic Game and Contestation Framing in Election Campaign Coverage\" (Political Communication, 2013, Vol. 30). The study examines the associations of strategic game frames and contestation frames with civility, reason-giving, and actor inclusiveness in election campaign television news. The files include the SPSS syntax file and content-analytical data (covering all news items mentioning the 2009 German federal election in all 112 nightly newscasts aired in the four main news bulletins of the four major television channels in the 4 weeks preceding the election).
