WallVoice24BD: A collection of wall graffiti related to anti-government demonstrations in Bangladesh during July-August 2024.

There were massive political demonstrations in Bangladesh during July-August, 2024 protesting the sitting government because of the suppressive methods used by them to govern the country. The demonstrations were predominantly led by students of universities - popularly referred to as GenZ. They were disenchanted predominantly because of their perceived lack of employment and business opportunities. This was further exacerbated by the lack of their disenfranchisement during the last three general elections in the country. The demonstrations were mainly led by students at different colleges and universities. A very popular method used by students to exhibit political discontent is through street wall graffiti. In Bangladesh, the use of graffiti has a long history that goes all the way to the British rule. Historically, these graffiti were restricted to written messages - that also in black-and-white. More recently, colors and character caricature were incorporated into the messaging. This dataset is a collection of a considerable amount of these wall-graffiti in the form of images. The images were collected from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. As these demonstrations were led by students, the wall-graffiti were concentrated around the major educational institutions of Dhaka. The images were collected and are organized in folders by the locales from were collected. These folders are: (i) Azimpur-Neelkhet, (ii) Baily Road-Viqarunessa, (iii) BUET-Palashi, (iv) Dhanmondi, (v) Dhaka University-Shahbagh, and (vi) Mirpur-Uttara-Tejgaon.
