Geological Antarctic Field Notebook - David Trail #3

David Trail worked as a geologist with the Bureau of Mineral Resources (BMR), the predecessor organisation of Geoscience Australia from 1958-1970 and 1978-1994. David’s first expedition to Antarctica was a year long trip to Mawson Base from January 1961 to March 1962. On this trip he was a member of the first party to ascend Mount Menzies on 19th December 1961. David also returned to Antarctica for the summer season of December 1964 to March 1965. The Trail Glacier and Mount Trail are named in David’s honour and reflect the important contribution he made to Antarctic geoscience.This expedition of 80 tasks is fully transcribed and validated.
