Earthquake – earthquake: Earthquake zones

The online map of earthquake events represents the earthquakes registered by the Rhineland-Palatinate Land Earthquake Service since 2000. As shown in the description of the station network (https://www.lgb-rlp.de/fachthemen-des-amtes/landeserdbebendienst-rheinland-pfalz/erdbeben-stationsnetz.html), the LER is a locally oriented measuring network, only earthquakes around Rhineland-Palatinate are shown. The map of earthquake zones and geological underground classes for Rhineland-Palatinate refers to DIN 4149:2005-04 'Buildings in German earthquake areas; Load assumptions, design and execution of building structures, published by DIN Deutsches Institut fuer Normung e.V., Burggrafenstr. 6, D-10787 Berlin. Non-tectonic, seismic induced events are not the subject of this presentation (DIN 4149:2005-04, Chapter 5.1). The earthquake zones are assigned intensity intervals according to the European Macroseismic Scale (EMS) and rated values of soil acceleration ag.
