Insect midgut appears the most important barrier on the path to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) infection. Pathophysiological features of Bt on of the Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata (CPB) was studied to uncover main antibacterial midgut defence reactions. As a result of the studies, it was shown that the combined effect of Bt spores and Cry toxins leads to a synergistic effect in insect mortality compared to the separate treatments.
