Method <i>Sample </i> The study’s sample consisted of 12 teams participating in the Men's Super League 2014/2015. Brazil, consistently, is ranked among the top three national teams in men's volleyball in the world (www.fivb.org), and most of their players play on Brazilian Superliga. In this sense, we used the observation of 142 games, being analyzed at least 23 games and a maximum of 26 games of each participating team, totaling 5,267 attacks carried out by the zone 4. Wrong receptions were excluded from the sample, since it did not allow the carrying out the attack. <i> </i> <i>Variables</i> Reception: corresponds to the reception quality and its influence on the construction of the attack. To assess the quality of reception, an instrument was adpted proposed by Eom and Schutz (1992). The following rating scale was used: 1 - Bad reception (C): reception did not allow the organization of attack, showing the location of the distribution of attack. 2 - Moderate Reception (B): Reception which allowed organized attack, though not all the attackers were available for the attack; more specifically, reduced the possibilities of fast attacks. 3 – Excellent Reception (A): reception that allowed organized attack with all available attackers to attack. Tempo of attack: this is the time of the attack action regarding the temporal relationship between the attacker, the setter and the ball (Selinger & Ackermann-Blount, 1986). The categories that make up this dimension are adapted from Afonso, Mesquita, Marcelino and Silva (2010). Therefore, we used the following scale: · 1<sup>st</sup> tempo of attack: the attacker jumped during or shortly after the setting · 2<sup>nd</sup> tempo of attack: the attacker held two or three steps after the setting · 3<sup>rd</sup> tempo of attack: the attacker waited for the ball to reach the peak of the trajet of the ball to began the attack. Attack Type: correspond to the technical criteria for the attack. To analyze the type of attack used the instrument proposed by Costa, Ferreira, Junqueira, Afonso and Mesquita (2011). In this sense, the a scale was used as followed: Potent attack in parallel: performs action of a powerful attack by printing a trajet O descendant laughed the ball parallel to the sideline in direction to zone 1. · Powerful attack diagonally: performs action of a powerful attack by printing a trajet descendant the ball diagonally. · Placed Attack: performs action of a attack or shot with control potence is applied on the ball directing it to a space without the defenders,so that for vulnerable level on the place of the defense. Effect of attack: will be evaluated through an adaptation of the instruments proposed by Eom and Schutz (1992) and Marcelino, Mesquita and Sampaio (2011). Thus, the following categories were obeserved : · Attack error: striker failed in the attack, since the ball was struck on the net, or out occurred some infraction on the regulation. · Blocked attack: the attack was blocked and resulted in point to the adversary. · Continuity: the action of the attack did not result in a terminal action and allowed the adversary the counterattack . · Point of attack: the attack resulted in direct point, once the ball has touched the adversary field or was diverted by blocking off the court. <i>Procedure for data collection</i> All games were recorded from the top perspective, ie about 7-9 meters behind the block from the bottom line and the camera was placed approximately three meters above ground level for easy viewing of video footage. One Sony camera with 1080p HD resolution and a frequency rate of 60 Hz was used. Observers were statistical of volleyball with minimum experience of 5 years in this specific function, in addition to having a degree in physical education in order to ensure consistency of criteria and quality in the data encoding. <b> </b> <i>Analysis </i> For descriptive statistical analysis was used SPSS 20.0 for Windows. Subsequently, the multinomial logistic analysis was performed and it was observed the relationship of the independent variables and the dependent variable one by one. An adjusted model in which was part of all independent variables that showed a relationship with the dependent was created. This model allowed investigate the predictive power of each of the independent variables on the dependent variable and the stipulated significance was 5% (p ≤ 0.05). <i>Reliability</i> To calculate the reliability, 20% of the shares were re-examined, exceeding the reference value of 10% (Tabachnick & Fidell, 2013). Cohen's Kappa values ranged from 0.90 to 1.00 for the interobserver reliability, and between 0.94 and 1.00 for intraobserver reliability. Accordingly, the reliability values are above the reference value is 0.75 (Fleiss, 2003).
