Interspecies comparison of three Loxoblemmus species

In order to investigate the speciation mechanisms of the morphologically cryptic crickets Loxoblemmus campestris and L. sylvestris, which are widely distributed in Japan and share overlapping habitats, we collected DNA-seq data from 11 L. campestris samples, 7 L. sylvestris samples, and 2 L. doenitzi samples. These sequence data were used for de novo assembly of complete mitochondrial genome sequences and population genome analysis through reference mapping. This project aims to contribute to the efficient breeding and mass production of crickets commonly consumed as food in Asian countries. The findings will serve as foundational data for the establishment of improved cricket lines.
