Homogenization of water and sediment bacterial communities in a shallow lake (Lake Balihe, China)

All samples were from Lake Balihe which is a subtropical fish farming lake in China. Water and sediment samples from all 18 locations were collected in four seasons (autumn, November 2018; winter, January 2019; spring, April 2019 and summer, July 2019). Total genomic DNA was extracted using the SDS method. PCR amplified the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene using the general bacteria primers 341F (5’-CCTAYGGGRBGCASCAG-3’) and 806R (5’-GGACTACNNGGGTATCTAAT-3’) with appropriate sample-specific barcodes. Single-end (400 bp) sequencing was performed on the Ion S5TM XL platform.
