As fundamental units of transcriptional regulation, enhancers also produce transcriptional products known as enhancer RNAs (eRNAs), whose expression levels reflect their activity. Recently, more studies have demonstrated the function of eRNAs. Therefore, it is important to elucidate the relationship between enhancers and schizophrenia for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying schizophrenia. We here report the enhancer activity and the expression products of RGS6e may contribute to decrease schizophrenia risk. we found that the unregulated genes of over-expression RGS6e are significantly enriched in psychiatric disorders, suggesting that RGS6e may regulate the expression of nervous system-related genes through trans-acting mechanisms. Taken together, our data supported the notion that RGS6e may impact susceptibility to SZ through trans-acting effects. Overall design: RNA-seq profiling of over-expression RGS6e Forward and RGS6e Reverse, and their corresponding empty vector in SK-N-SN cells.
