Prussian Urmess Table Sheets 1: 25 000 4445 Falkenberg/Elster

The production of the Prussian Urmesstischblatt began in 1822 for the entire territory of Prussia. The cards were hand-drawn unique pieces in scale 1: 25 000. They have not been published; they should merely form the basis for smaller scale maps. With the -Instruction for the topographic works of the Royal Prussian General Staff- from 1821 and with the -Explanatory Notes to the sample sheets for the topographic works the Royal Prussian General Staff were determined in terms of content and design. The Ur-Measuring Table Sheets mark the beginning of topographic cartography, which has evolved in various stages, but is still based on these roots. The cards are available plano and are mainly available as print. Individual map sheets have been reworked in the color scheme and are thus even more similar to the original.
