Historical dynamics of the demersal fish community in the East and South China Seas

We digitized historical Taiwanese otter trawler catch-and-effort (CPUE) data in the East China Sea (Lat: 17-34.5°N, Long: 108-128.5°E), which were available from the Annual Report of Effort and Catch Statistics by Area on Taiwan Demersal Fish Fisheries published by the Fisheries Agency, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, Taiwan (compiled by Dr. Shean-Ya Yeh, the Demersal Fish Research Center, Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University) (Fig.1a). The dataset contains: total catch weight (unit = no. cases; 1 case = 30 kg approximately) for each species in four fishing seasons each year (winter: Jan-March; spring: April-June; summer: July-Sept; fall: Oct-Dec) and year in each of 50 grid cells (dimension 0.5° latitude by 0.5° longitude); and total fishing effort (no. hauls) in each cell in each season and year for boats of 100-200 metric tons (the primary size class participating in the fishery). Data were originally derived from logbook entries and recorded by grid.本研究对中国东海海域（纬度范围：17°N~34.5°N，经度范围：108°E~128.5°E）的台湾地区历史网板拖网渔船（otter trawler）单位捕捞努力量渔获量（Catch Per Unit Effort, CPUE）数据进行了数字化处理。该数据源自台湾地区行政院农业委员会渔业署发布的《台湾底层鱼类渔业区域捕捞努力量与渔获量统计年报》，由台湾大学海洋研究所底层鱼类研究中心的叶慎雅博士（Shean-Ya Yeh）编制，对应图1a。本数据集涵盖两类数据：一是50个0.5°纬度×0.5°经度的网格单元中，每年4个捕捞季（冬季：1月至3月、春季：4月至6月、夏季：7月至9月、秋季：10月至12月）各物种的总捕捞重量（单位：箱，每箱约合30千克）；二是对应季节与年份下，该网格单元内100-200公吨级渔船（该渔业的主力作业船型）的总捕捞努力量（以拖航次数计）。该数据原始来源为渔船航海日志，并按网格单元进行归档记录。
