资源简介:

IRAS F001837111 is possibly the most luminous ULIRG discovered byIRAS. Nicknamed the .fire and ice galaxy. since its widelycited firstSpitzerIRS observations were published in 2004, this galaxy hascontinued to amaze. Not only does it host the possibly most deeplyobscured powerful AGN/quasar in the Local Universe (z<0.4), itsextremely wide midIR neon line profiles and the extended red wing tothe CO(J10) line hint at massive outflows. These outflows may bepowered by the radio jets, which appear to be young and which may beresponsible for the opticallyobscured, highly disturbed ionized neongas line emission seen with Spitzer, the multiple spatial andkinematic O III 5007A components, and the offnuclear soft Xraybubble seen by XMM.So far this luminous z0.328 merger has remained unobserved byHerschel. Here we propose to study its nuclear outflow at farinfraredwavelengths to reveal optically obscured highvelocity ionized gasoutflow components, and to assess the extent and timescale of theneutral and molecular gas outflows, which may drive the evolution ofIRAS F001837111 from a deeply buried merger remnant to a nakedQSO. Our proposed observations may also benefit existing HerschelULIRG outflow studies by providing measurements for a ULIRG that willextend the current L(AGN) range by a factor of two. This study willfurther also be r^ant for understanding the population of deeplyobscured radio galaxies found at high redshifts. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
