Methodology

The data was collected through a multi-stage media scan using targeted keywords on Google and primary media outlets to identify reporting on labor protests and living conditions. This Excel dataset organizes the findings by year, detailing the articles filtered through successive phases of qualitative selection.

Research Objectives

The dataset aims to answer how migrant agricultural workers' resistances are represented in Italian media and what repertoires of action (strikes, claims, mapping of grievances) are most prominent. It specifically tracks the "nodes" or "codes" of analysis—such as housing (housing/accoglienza), unionization, and legal status (permesso di soggiorno)—to facilitate comparative studies with other geographical contexts like Canada.
