Knowledge-intensive business services in the metropolitan regions of São Paulo: a 2016-2020 panorama

Abstract In the context of innovation, special importance is given to Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (Kibs), which is a group of companies that offer solutions based on technical knowledge to other companies. The presence of these companies in the territory indicates sectoral diversity and economic dynamism; in addition, the services provided by Kibs are considered a fundamental part of the innovation process. From this perspective, the present work aims to identify the presence and evolution of the Kibs sector, from 2016 to 2020, in the nine metropolitan regions of the State of São Paulo. The study showed the differentiated dynamics of this group of companies present in the metropolitan regions analyzed here.
