Georeferenced dataset of archaeological absolute dates with associated contextual information from the Late Pleistocene–Holocene of Northwestern Patagonia and Central Chile

This article presents a georeferenced database of 1,284 published absolute dates from 448 archaeological sites in Northwestern Patagonia (Argentina) and Central Chile. The dataset was compiled through a systematic and comprehensive review of published literature from international and local journals, project reports, conference proceedings, bulletins, and books, complemented by direct consultation with researchers responsible for the original excavations. The database includes dates obtained through conventional radiocarbon dating, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), thermoluminescence, and obsidian hydration, measured on a variety of materials such as charcoal, bones, plant remains, shells, sediments, ceramics, and obsidian artifacts. The dataset also provides contextual information associated with the dated materials, including the presence of human remains, ceramics, domesticated plants, megafauna, and marine shell middens. By integrating chronological and contextual information from a wide range of published sources, this dataset provides a consolidated resource that can support chronological, spatial, and comparative analyses of archaeological records across Northwestern Patagonia and Central Chile.
