Value of imported goods into Denmark 2010-2022

The value of imported goods grew over the past decade in Denmark. In 2010, the value of imported goods amounted to around 463 billion Danish kroner. As a result of the coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) Denmark’s total imports was worth about 624 billion kroner in 2020 which was a decline from the previous year. In 2022, Denmark imported goods worth 906 billion Danish kroner. Fewer exports due to COVID-19 Another consequence of the pandemic was a decreasing number of exports. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, Denmark exported fewer goods than previously, breaking the general tendency of growing exports in the country. In 2021, Denmark exported goods worth around 790 billion Danish kroner, which was an increase from 2020. Despite a lower value of exported goods, the trade balance in Denmark remained positive as the import value is lower than the export value. Who is Denmark importing to? Germany is inarguably the most important trading partner for Denmark. In 2022, Denmark imported goods from Germany worth over 182 billion Danish kroner. Goods from Sweden account for the second most of Denmark’s imports, reaching roughly 111 billion kroner that same year. Regarding exporting countries, a similar picture appears: Denmark exports the most goods to Germany and Sweden. The United States, however, is the third most important export country for Denmark.
