ALL GPD data are from Petrified Forest National Park. NO Data from Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC of Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) or Visitor Center Colony (VCC) of VCNP Best estimate for first cop at age-1 for BTPD males is 15/260 = 5.80% (from SYSTAT output on 27 Jan 2020. Best estimate for first cop at age-2 for BTPD females is 148-136/148 = 112/148 = 75.68%. Where from? I cannot find where I got this number. Best estimate for first cop at age 3 for BTPD females is 10/260= 3.85% (from Hoogland 1995, page 397 and table from stats for Hoogland 1995 (University of Chicago Press) in stapled summaries called "Prob of copping vs age") Sample sizes are above bars in Fig 11.5. Sample size for BTPD males here = 260, which differs from the 261 in Hoogland 1995, page 398. I have used N = 260 for my 2026 book, and I will not bother to investigate the discrepancy. BTPD percentages for males do not add up to 100%, because for ages 3 and 4 I divided by 260. Not sure if this is best way. Main point here is that most BTPD males first copulated as 2-year olds. Sample sizes shown here are only for the number of juveniles followed in first year after weaning; Sample sizes for other ages are unknown, but always smaller These percentages checked TWO TIMES on 06 April 2022.
