Susquehanna Shale Hills Critical Zone Observatory - Sequential filtration of stream and groundwater of the Shale Hills catchment

Stream and groundwater of the Shale Hills catchment in the Shale Hills Critical Zone Observatory in Pennsylvania were filtered through various pore-sized filters (5µm, 3µm, 1µm, 0.45µm, 0.2 µm, 100 Kda, 1 Kda). Groundwater samples were collected at various depths from W7, W8, W11, CZMW1, CZMW2, and CZMW4). All the filtrates were acidified to 2% (v/v) using nitric acid. Major cations were analyzed using a ICP-AES and minor and trace elements were analyzed using a ICP-MS. This work was funded by NSF Critical Zone Observatory program grants to C.
