Akebono is a Japanese scientific satellite, launched in February, 1989 to study auroral phenomena. One of the main purpose of the multi-purpose antenna system which was constructed at Syowa Station in January, 1989 by JARE-30 was to receive the data from Akebono satellite. The first signal from Akebono was received by the big (11 m diameter) parabolic antenna system, and a lot of important data had been received by this system, because Syowa was the only receiving station in the southern hemisphere. Receiving, recording, and processing instruments were set in the satellite data receiving building. Received data were recorded on computer tape and editted for the database at Institute of Space and Astronautical Science afterward. Akebono satellite data receiving at Syowa Station ended in 2003 due to maintenace reason.

(Institute of Space and Astronautical Science)进行数据库的编辑与入库工作。
