Gut Microbiome Profiling of Arius manillensis from Pasig River

This study aims to determine how heavy metal composition of the Pasig River affects the diversity and dynamics of gut microbiota, particularly, bacteria, of an endemic fish species of commercial importance within the locality of Pasig City, Philippines. The study also aims to characterize the functional roles of gut bacterial communities in A. manillensis, and evaluate their potential contributions to host resilience. Identification of putative bacterial taxa found in its gut microbiome can also serve as indicators of fish health and overall water quality.
