Replication Package for "Place-Based Credit inside Functional Urban Regions: Spatial Incidence, Reallocation, and Urban Hierarchy"

This replication package contains the cleaned data, source code, metadata, and documentation required to reproduce the empirical results in “Place-Based Credit inside Functional Urban Regions: Spatial Incidence, Reallocation, and Urban Hierarchy.” The paper studies the spatial incidence of place-based credit using Brazil’s Northeast Constitutional Financing Fund (FNE). The package reproduces the manuscript’s tables, estimation outputs, spatial-accounting results, economic-magnitude calculations, hierarchy-gradient estimates, robustness checks, and figure source files. The package includes municipality-year, region-year, and municipality-sector-year analysis datasets; a complete Excel analysis base; Python scripts for replication; data dictionaries; variable-construction notes; source documentation; and an audit script. The canonical replication command is python code/00_run_all.py. Municipal and regional shapefiles are not included in the archive. The documentation provides links and instructions for downloading the official IBGE shapefiles required to reproduce the maps. Without external shapefiles, the package still reproduces all tables and non-map outputs.
