资源简介:
Burton's mouthbrooder (Haplochromis burtoni) is a species of fish in the family Cichlidae. It is found in Lake Tanganyika and its surrounding waterways, including parts of Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia. It has been used as a model organism to study the behaviors and physical systems of cichlids, including their development and embryogenesis (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a female individual was procured by Andrew Hoadley and Beau Alward from a colony of wild-type fish to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). A male individual (fHapBur2) was also sampled in order to study the sex chromosomes of the species. Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco. Manual curation of the assembly was conducted by Genoscope in France.
